On July 23, 2013, Minister of the Social Development and Human Security-Praveena Hongsakul - revealed a concern of PM Yingluck Shinawatra over the problem of Trafficking in Persons including illegitimate labor force in fishery and beggary.
The Minister also pointed out such social problems as domestic violence and unintentional pregnancy among teenagers required instant action modules for problem-solving.
Authorities such as the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Justice, Royal Thai Police and alliance network were demanded to maintain their mandates by developing immediate solutions together.
The hostile situation in Thailand led the US Trafficking in Persons (TiP) rated the country in a group of Second Tier Watch lists for four consecutive years. The details exposed Thailand as a country of origin, transit, and destination of all human trafficking types.
Ms.Paveena also noted that unless the government put precautionary measures offering by the US and Thailand into practice, the country might be degraded to the Third Tier or possibly resulted in a trade barrier and restriction of other assistance from the US.
To follow up the highly concerning issue, on July 24, 2013, the PM visited One Stop Crisis Center (OSCC) at the Ministry of Social development and Human Security. The center provides 24/7 hot-line service for information and complaint regarding trafficking in Person through 1300.
