Technical Advisory Group on the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purpose

During 9-13 May, 2016, representatives of Thailand Institute of Justice attend the First Global Meeting of Focal Points of the United Nations Survey of Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems (UN-CTS) and the First Meeting of the Technical Advisory Group on the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purpose (TAG-ICCS) organized by the Statistics and Surveys Section,Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs,United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna.


The meetings gathered national experts to discuss ways to improve method of crime and criminal justice data collection, and victimization surveys to produce high quality data for international comparisons. Participants were invited to voice their opinions and concerns about the revision of the UN-CTS questions to reflect the indicators included in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Technical Advisory Group meeting will focus on the structure and contents of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purpose (ICCS) Implementation Manual. The work plan to support ICCS implementation will also be discussed.
