Pilot Training for Emotional Wellness Program

 

 

 

 

On the 7th of October 2021, Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) together with the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection hosted an online pilot training on Emotional Wellness Program. The introduction to the training was delivered by Miss Sudarak Suvannanonda, Chief of Surveys and Analysis Section of TIJ, followed by the opening remarks by honorable Police Lieutenant Colonel, former Director-General of the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection and the chairperson of the event. The training had in attendance relevant government officials and officers of the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection.

 

 

The objectives of the Emotional Wellness Program pilot training aimed to strengthen the body of knowledge and develop the skill sets necessary for the supervision of children and young offenders among the special or specific group. The training also focused on improving the case management of children and young persons’ rehabilitation using Cognitive Behavior Therapy technique. Dr. Salakchit Sangsin (Ph.D.), Professional Level Medical Doctor on children and young persons’ psychology from Galya Rajanagarindra Institute and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darunee Phukao, expert on children psychological therapy and Head of Society and Health Department, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University had given the honor to be the speakers on the topic.

 

 

 

 

The Program focuses on strengthening the psychological well-being of the participants in terms of their hopes, personal efficacy assessment, resilience, realistic optimism, burnout and anxiety management, and understanding the nature of stress. Asst. Prof. Nattasuda Taephant, Ph.D., Dean and faculty member of the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University also provided the honor of moderating the workshop.  The workshop aimed to improve the preparedness in the performance of duty and contextual understanding of the attending participants as the persons who supervise children and young offenders. Moreover, the workshop focused on giving strength and encouragement to the personnel in their performance of such duties, ensuring the well-being of their mental and physical health which will allow them to perform at the full potential.

 

 

The training was held, for the first time, on the 7th – 8th and 14th -15th of October 2021 via Zoom Meeting VDO conference platform. The pilot training was planned to take place again in 2022.
