On Aug 22, 2013, the participants of the learning course on Equal Status and Human Rights of Women in Southeast Asia organized by the Raul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) visited Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ). The study visit at TIJ was part of the learning course aimed at providing an in-depth discussion on the United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders or the Bangkok Rules and its implementation.
As a public organization charged with promoting the implementation of the Bangkok Rules, Thailand Institute of Justice welcomed the opportunity to provide the participants from Southeast Asian countries with an introduction on the Bangkok Rules and our Programme of Work dedicated for its implementation. A field trip at the Central Women Correctional Institute was also part of the practical learning experience coordinated by TIJ.
On this occasion, Mr. Nathee Chitsawang, TIJ Deputy Executive Director, welcomed the participants.
