The TIJ hosted workshops for Cambodian correctional staffs.
The Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) signed the Memorandum of Understanding in August 2019 with the Directorate General of Prisons (DGP) to launch the pilot Model Prison Project on the implementation of the United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders (The Bangkok Rules) in Correctional Center 2 (CC2), the biggest women’s prison in Cambodia.
On 20-24 January 2020, the TIJ organized a 4-day workshop for 3 prison officers from the DGP at Ayutthaya Provincial Prison, in order to be trained on the management of prison café, restaurant, and Thai massage palore, as well as the implementation of the UN Bangkok Rules in the CC2.
Additionally, between November – December 2019, the TIJ organized the 4th training on the Management of Women Prisoners for Senior Correctional Staff in the ASEAN Region in Bangkok, which 4 senior correctional staffs and 1 speaker from the DGP attending the training and an in-country training in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for 30 Cambodia correctional staffs.
