On the 4th April, 2013, Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) hosted the ASEAN Plus Three Conference at Centara Grand Hotel, Bangkok. The topics were mainly about non-custodial measures and TIJ’s history.
On this occasion, Ambassador Adisak Panupong, Executive Director of TIJ, delivered a speech of which essence related to TIJ’s background and a progress of TIJ’s collaboration with UNODC to develop training modules based on the Bangkok Rules. In addition, the Ambassador also talked about TIJ’s vision of becoming an international leader who supports the promotion of regional crime prevention and the development of criminal justice system, in order to address with future challenges. As a consequence of the meeting, TIJ aimed for relationship strengthening among probation practitioners and the enhancement of effective non-custodial measures responsive to demands for the implementation.
In the final part of the speech, TIJ greatly valued the cooperation with international stakeholders and attached great importance to the platform provided by ASEAN and Asian region to develop and support the implementation of the Bangkok Rules.
