Representatives from the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), led by Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, the Executive Director of TIJ, attended the Asia-Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting of the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice from 21 - 23 January 2025 in Bangkok. The 15th UN Crime Congress will be held in 2026 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates under the main theme “Accelerating crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law: protecting people and planet and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the digital age”.
The Regional Preparatory Meetings for the 15th Crime Congress are convened across five regions: Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and Western Asia, to examine the substantive items on the agenda and the workshops of the Congress and to gather inputs from stakeholders across the regions, contributing to action-oriented recommendations that serve as a basis for the draft recommendations and conclusions for consideration by the Congress.
At the event, our Executive Director, Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, delivered the statements, highlighting TIJ’s commitment to advancing people-centered justice through innovative and collaborative approaches, to addressing the root causes of crime including social and economic aspects in order to build safer and more sustainable society, and to enhancing methods of data collection and analysis to ensure more effective responses to evolving crime and justice challenges.
