During the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, Executive Director of TIJ, delivered a video statement during the plenary meeting under Agenda Item 6(f). He noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of TIJ’s membership in the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network of Institutes (UN-PNI).

“Looking ahead, we see an opportunity to further strengthen our work by linking the accelerated implementation of international standards and norms with people-centred approaches that bring justice closer to those it serves,” Dr. Phiset stated.

He also highlighted the Bangkok Rules Accelerator, a joint initiative between TIJ and UNODC aimed at translating international standards into practical action with measurable impact.

In addition, TIJ representatives Chontit Chuenurah, Director of the Office for the Bangkok Rules and Treatment of Offenders, and Kittiphoom Neamhom, Expert in Policy Coordination, participated in the UN-PNI Coordination Meeting. During the meeting, TIJ shared updates on its key activities as a UN-PNI member and reported on preparations for workshops to be held at the 15th United Nations Crime Congress.
