Thailand Institute of Justice and Department of Corrections launched the Fourth Training on the United Nations Standards and Norms on the Treatment of Prisoners for Executive Correctional Officials in Thailand on 13 August 2025.


“The UN standards and norms serve as a vital instrument for elevating correctional work and play a crucial role in advancing the rule of law in Thailand,” stated Dr. Nathee Chitsawang, Advisor of the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), in his opening remarks at the training. The program is jointly organized by the Department of Corrections and TIJ and was formally opened on 13 August 2025 at the TIJ Building on Chaeng Watthana Road, Bangkok.


This year marks the first collaboration between TIJ and the Correctional Staff Training Institute, Department of Corrections in co-developing a curriculum tailored specifically for prison directors. The program features core modules on global trends in prison management, leadership empowerment
and design thinking.


The training brings together 30 prison directors from facilities across Thailand. Sessions commenced online on 7 August 2025, followed by in-person activities from 13–14 August 2025 at TIJ headquarter. The program also includes a study visit to Thai PBS.
