Mary Beth Goodman, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), who is visiting Thailand to deliver a special address at The Standard Economic Forum on November 7, joined the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) executives and strategic partners — including Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, Executive Director of the TIJ and Dr. Anuwan Vongpichet, Deputy Executive Director of the TIJ — in meetings with key government agencies working to advance and strengthen the rule of law in Thailand during November 6–7, 2025.

On November 6, the OECD Deputy Secretary-General held discussions with Professor Emeritus Borwornsak Uwanno, Deputy Prime Minister and Itthiporn Kaewthip, Attorney General of Thailand and on November 7, visited with Chaiyos Oranousiri, Vice – President of the Supreme Court.
On this occasion, the OECD representative stated that the visit provides a valuable opportunity to prepare Thailand for OECD membership. He noted that OECD has been working closely with TIJ on initiatives promoting government data transparency and integrity. Joint projects include the Justice Scan Project, which supports a people-centered justice system, and collaborative research with TIJ on Cost of Crime, focusing on access to justice and its economic impact.
“The OECD welcomes Thailand’s strong commitment to joining the organization, which will allow the country to play a greater role in shaping global economic policy in the future,” said Mary Beth Goodman.
Currently, the OECD has 38 member countries, with 8 others — including Thailand — in the process of applying for membership.
