“Corruption thrives where information is fragmented, concealed, or inconsistent. But when transparency expands, and when data becomes open, comparable, and usable, corruption loses ground.”

Speaking at the Second Global Conference on Harnessing Data to Improve Corruption Measurement at the UN Headquarters in December 2025, Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, the TIJ Executive Director highlighted Thailand’s shift toward data-driven social cooperation to tackle corruption.
He also noted that while TIJ and its partners have identified 25 essential datasets spanning the full spectrum of anti-corruption efforts—from prevention to enforcement—challenges remain regarding data interoperability between agencies.
To address this, TIJ aims to make data open by default, timely, and usable. By bridging international standards with local policymakers and civil society, TIJ seeks to elevate Thailand's readiness and contribution to the global fight against corruption.
