TIJ to Host the 6th Public Forum on the Rule of Law and the Sustainable Development Search for New Paradigms to Build a Just and Fair Society

Goal 16 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicates that the rule of law is a foundation and a tool for the achievement of sustainable development. To succeed, society needs the combined effort from all stakeholders in forging the rule of law in society.

As mentioned above, TIJ, as a member of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network (PNI), acknowledges the significance of social integration for a better society, and we have continuously hosted many public forums to reiterate our position on bringing international standards into practice. The TIJ Public Forum is one of our many tools to provide knowledge, experience, and resolutions among academics, policymakers, practitioners, and TIJ Executive Program on the Rule of Law and Development (RoLD Program) participants.

The theme of the 6th TIJ Public Forum is “Envisioning Transformative Social Justice” and it will be held on the 24th of July 2018 between 08.30 AM and 16.30 PM at Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok.  Distinguished speakers, academics, policymakers, and RoLD Program participants from various fields of work will join hands to discuss and exchange views on 3 main topics in today’s Thai society:

  1. Culture of Lawfulness
  2. Financial Inclusion for a Future Economy
  3. Reintegration

All sessions will be held in the Thai language, except for the special session, “A Case Study: Singapore’s Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Ex-Offenders.”
