TIJ’s research team is on a field-trip in the Philippines

From 18 May – 6 June, 2015 - TIJ’s research team is on a field-trip to three cities in the Philippines to conduct a survey of 550 women in six correctional facilities across the country.


Such data collection is part of the research on women prisoners and the implementation of the Bangkok Rules in the Philippines which aims to study about background, characteristics and factors related to the offense of female offenders and learn about the application of the United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders or the "Bangkok Rules" in the Philippines.


This evidence-based research is one of several initiatives of the TIJ which aims to promote knowledge development and the application of the Bangkok Rules in the ASEAN region.
