On 4 December 2015 - TIJ and Embassy of the United States in Thailand co-hosted
“Expert talk on Gender-Based Violence in Southeast Asia: Solutions and Ways Forward”
The expert talk is aimed to provide insights on the problems and solutions of gender based violence in Southeast Asia, employing lessons learned and approaches from regions round the globe, and also served as a platform for discussion to exchange ideas and effort to ending violence against women and girls.
Ambassador Adisak Panupong, Special Advisor of TIJ, and Ms. Anne Lee Seshadri, Cultural Affairs Officer, delivered the opening remarks. Dr. Mary Ellsberg from the George Washington University’s Global Women’s Institute – GWI led the talk which focused on “What has been accomplished in the last 20 years to end violence against women and girls”. Moreover, Ms.Selin Arvut, SpeakUpSpeakOut TIJ Youth Network, shared her concept of short film on “Don’t Hurt Her Twice”.
