31 March - 2 April 2016—The Executive Director, TIJ team, and members of the TIJ Youth Network organized a Rule of Law Education activity using “The Choice”, an educational board game designed by the Legal Aid Center for Debtors and Victims of Injustice, Ministry of Justice, at Meechai Bamboo School and Baan Nong Sra Community, Buriram province. The objective of the game is to educate players of basic knowledge about personal financial management and related legal contracts, and hopefully, cut the demand for illegal non-bank lenders or loan sharks, which is the dominant source of financial problems among Thai rural communities.
More than 400 villagers, students, teachers, farmers, provincial court officials, and the Government Savings Bank participated in these events. This roadshow is also a part of the pilot project for members of the TIJ Youth Network to disseminate the Rule of Law education.
