14-22 March 2016—The Executive Director and TIJ team joined the 59th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) in Vienna, Austria. TIJ co-organized a side event on the topic of “Strengthening the Rule of Law to Achieve Sustainable Alternative Development” with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Government of Peru. Dr. Kittipong Kittayarak presented His Majesty the King’s initiatives on the alternative development project that has eliminated illicit crop cultivation. ‘The Royal Project’ has long been recognized by the United Nations as one of the best practices for using the human-centered approach for sustainable development.
