TIJ held a public hearing forum entitled ‘Thailand’s Drug Policy Revisited’

On August 18th, 2016 TIJ held a public hearing forum entitled ‘Thailand’s Drug Policy Revisited’ at Conrad Hotel in order to discuss about creating the innovative and effective drug policy to solve drug problems in a sustainable manner. Over 200 participants were policy makers, executives of departments, academia, and practitioners from governmental and non-governmental sectors in several fields of expertise including, criminal justice, public health, and economics.


General Paiboon Koomchaya—Minister of Justice and Clinical Professor Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn (M.D.)—Minister of Public Health, delivered opening speeches. Mr.Jeremy Douglas delivered an introductory remarks on world drug situation.


Then, Dr.Kittipong Kittayarak led the session by giving a presentation on ‘Analysing Drug Policy and Ways Forward for Thailand’ and followed by Dr.Noppadon Kannika who presented TIJ Poll results about public opinion on drugs and policies.


Following-up this forum, TIJ will officially produce policy recommendation to the Royal Thai Government for the sake of Thailand’s drug law and policy reformation.
